The SiteHandler™ system is a modular software suite that uses templates, display routines, static files, interactive applications and database information to transparently generate and display full-featured web pages.A simplified schematic of the process for generating pages is shown to the right. REQUEST: The process begins with a typical http:// request such as typing a URL directly into your browser or following a link within a web page. DATABASE: Each request is received by the system, and initiates a call to the SiteHandler™ "page reference database" where the elements and file pointers necessary to assemble the requested page components are extracted. Each of the elements together with their raw data is subsequently made available to the template and its associated display routines. The central triangle (as illustrated above) indicates that system editing functions allow an authorized administrator to edit the elements and pointers within the database. TEMPLATE: The template then runs each of the display routines and application processes in sequence, assembling the content and programmatically adjusting to the user's session information before the entire page is sent to the user's browser. Since the system generates every web page in response to a specific user's request, it is a simple matter to dynamically alter the content to reflect each user's interaction or include real-time data with each page request. Every link within the SiteHandler™ system is invisibly generated with a unique key that identifies both the user and the selected link to the system, allowing the system to maintain session information without using "cookies".
